If you are in your final year of your academic program, or have graduated, now is a great time to be looking into recruitment opportunities in the federal public service. Recruitment programs may begin at different times throughout the year, so stay tuned for the application deadlines listed here!
Please note that graduating students who are not returning to full-time studies in the next term may work part-time until they graduate, in the opportunities listed under Current Students. For more details, see the eligibility requirements.
How Can You Work in the Federal Public Service When You Graduate?
There are a few different ways that you can become employed in the federal public service after graduation:
Graduate Recruitment Programs: these programs create a database of available candidates for a variety of positions across the federal public service. These recruitment programs host “campaigns,” which means you can apply to the program before a certain deadline. Once the deadline passes, some programs begin a new campaign with a new deadline. Interested graduates will have to submit their application again to the new campaign. For example, an application to a 2015 campaign will not be carried over to a 2016 campaign. You will have to apply again in order to be eligible for an employment opportunity.
Other Employment Opportunities: some Departments, Agencies and Crown Corporations, may have specialized recruitment programs that are outside of the general federal public service recruitment programs above. You must apply separately to these positions.
Job Search: some Departments, Agencies and Crown Corporations choose to advertise available positions at jobs.gc.ca. Note that some departments may only advertise on their own websites.
