The Student Success Centre offers many resources to help students prepare for an interview:
The resource library located in UCC 210 has many reference books and print resources to help you prepare for an interview (under Section 5.3). Although this collection is non-circulating, you can access all books and other resource materials in the resource space (UCC 210) and relax in the comfy chairs.
Impress your interviewers in your next interview with your poised manner, your well-prepared answers, and your proper interview etiquette. Come to one of our interview prep workshops to learn tips and strategies to present your "best you". These workshops are offered several times during the academic year and provide you with detailed interview information and practice, including specialized workshops designed for medical and dental school applicants. To see when the next workshop is being offered and to sign up visit CareerCentral.
Please note: Not all workshops are offered each academic term.
Before heading into your next interview, spend 30 minutes using our newest technology: InterviewStream. If you have a webcam you can conduct a personalized interview right now! This tool provides feedback and tips on non-verbal behaviour and communication missteps.
The mock interview allows students to simulate an actual interview and receive feedback on their interview skills from a career counsellor in a video-captured session. Before booking a mock interview, we strongly suggest that you have used one of the above interview preparation resources. Students are limited to one mock interview per term. To book a mock interview, call 519-661-3559 or come in to UCC 210 to make an appointment.
“I recently accepted a seat at McMaster's medical school. I believe my preparation and practice, one on one interview and the Success Centre's interview strategies and practice MMI workshops, successfully helped build the confidence and presentation skills I needed to accurately represent myself to the interviewers. I appreciate everything the Success Centre has provided and please know your work makes a difference in people's lives.” - Jessica Bhullar, B.H.Sc 2011
