Volunteering Off-Campus

There are a number of ways to learn about volunteer opportunities in London which will help you to get to know the city, make meaningful contributions to the community and gain valuable experience.

Western’s CareerCentral

Various organizations and individuals will post volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Just login to CareerCentral, click on the Job Postings option in the left-side menu, and then select Volunteer/Unpaid opportunities.

Pillar Nonprofit Network

The Pillar Nonprofit Network supports non-profit organizations in fulfilling their missions in London and area. We provide leadership, advocacy and support to the nonprofit sector through the promotion of volunteerism, professional development, networking, and information.

Information London

This directory of social services lists a variety of organizations in London and the Middlesex area.  Specific essential community services such as education, health care, employment or criminal justice are listed, as well as resources for particular populations including seniors, youth, women, indigenous peoples, immigrants and newcomers. If you have an interest in working with specialized groups, this directory helps in identifying organizations where you could volunteer.

You may also contact various organizations directly and speak with their “Volunteer Coordinator” to learn about volunteer opportunities available. For example, both London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London have “Volunteer Services” departments as do different long term care facilities, and other organizations. Often they are in need of volunteers, however haven’t yet advertised this.
