What is a Success Leader?

"Success Leader" refers to an undergraduate student who volunteers (or works) for the Student Success Centre in one of our student leadership roles. This includes anything from being a LAMP Peer Mentor, to a Career Leader, to an SAO Leader, and a variety of other positions (listed below)! Are YOU interested in volunteering or working at the Student Success Centre? We have lots of great opportunities available year-round under the Success Leader umbrella!

How to Apply

Login to CareerCentral, and navigate to the Campus Student Leader posting boards.  Some positions will require document uploads to CareerCentral, and other positions will require your documents to be uploaded to the Working at Western website.  Each role will indicate the application instructions in the CareerCentral posting.

Leadership and Mentorship Program (LAMP) 1.0 Student Coordinator

The Student Coordinator will work closely with the Transition, Leadership and Enrichment Program Coordinator to complete administrative tasks, create and follow through on initiatives related to program enhancement, and help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Leadership and Academic Mentorship Program.

The goal of the Summer Academic Orientation Program (SAO) is to assist first year students with their transition to the university environment and culture. This includes helping first year students get connected, learn more about services at Western, explore our campus and meet members of our community before they begin school in September. Over the course of the summer, we see approximately 3500 students and over 4000 guests.

Career Profile Advisor: Team Coordinator

The Team Coordinator, Career Profile Advisors, (TC) is the key leadership role overseeing the smooth day to day operations of the Career Profile Advisor (CPA) Program and WERC (Western’s Employment Resource Centre). WERC and the role exists of CPA exists to help Western University students improve their employment/application documents (e.g. resumes, cover letters, CVs and Linkedin profiles) through sharing informed recommendations.  The CPA has a major influence in the confidence of the client and their ability to be successful in their employment or educational goals. The effectiveness of the CPAs and WERC lies principally with the Student Coordinator.

WS Team Leaders will assist with implementing team-based, co-curricular (not for credit) Community Engaged Learning activities at Western. Team Leaders will be responsible for leading a team of students through both on-going and single event community projects throughout the year through the Western Serves Network (WSN). Team Leaders will be responsible for leading the group through working with London community agencies, including communication with students and agencies, day-of logistics, and facilitation of reflection activities. They will also provide feedback and direction for the expansion of WSN, its activities, and the marketing and promotion thereof.

Society of Mature Students (SMS) Coordinator

The Society of Mature Students (SMS) Coordinator ensures that mature students at Western have activities to bring them together as well as avenues for advocacy on issues that concern them. Conversations among mature students typically focus on how to juggle work and family, how to manage when children are sick and assignments are due. Mature students may be concerned about being academically successful if it has been a while since they’ve been in school. We know that when mature students come together, they provide valuable support to each other, and our Mentorship Program, which the Coordinator operates, provides a formal connection among experienced and new mature students.
