How to Prepare for SAO

1 Review course descriptions and academic information in the First-Year Calendar from your offer package, and prepare a list of courses you are interested in taking. Please read through the following:
  1. Degree Structure (p. 21-22)
  2. Modules & Required Courses (p. 23-60)
  3. Course suffixes & breadth requirements (p. 77)
2 Complete language placement tests if you are interested in taking German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic or Korean.
3 Verify that you have your 'Western Identity' (e.g. wsmith2 & jfT9R^RB) by visiting Information Technology Services.
4 Upload a photo of yourself for the Western ONECard (your identification card for exams & Campus Recreation; and your bus pass, library card, & meal plan card) through your Student Center.
5 Submit Advanced Placement (AP) College Board test results or International Baccalaureate (IB) official transcripts (if applicable) to the Undergraduate Admissions Office (Main Campus) by July 15, 2016. All courses eligible for transfer credit consideration should be submitted prior to your course registration and no later than September 8, 2016.

SAO In-Person Checklist (What to bring with you)

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • First-Year Calendar from your offer package
  • List of required courses, elective courses and modules/programs of interest
  • Language Placement Test results (if applicable)
  • Course outlines/syllabus if you have previously attended College, University, or a non-Canadian secondary school curriculum (if applicable)
  • List of questions you may have and paper/pen
