Letter from the Charity Orientation Coordinator

Hello! My name is Jenna Froebelius and I’m extremely excited to be working on Orientation Serves this year.

My role as the Charity Orientation Coordinator leaves me responsible for overseeing all the charity initiatives during Orientation Week for first-year students and their sophs. Our Charity Orientation Team is made of 28 sophs, in other words upper year orientation volunteers. They work throughout the summer and during Orientation Week to deliver programming for first-year students. This includes charity BBQ’s, awareness campaigns, Orientation Serves Day, and the Terry Fox Run.

Over the past couple years, we have focused on shifting the program’s vision from fundraising to a community engagement and awareness based vision. This allows first-year students to become involved in the community while offering their service to help organizations all around London. If you're new to London, it's a great way to get to know your new home!

My role throughout the summer will be to work on Orientation Serves, work with my team on planning for Orientation Week, and working as a member on Orientation Staff where I will assist in the planning and coordination for all Orientation Week activities.

If you're a community partner and are interested in Orientation Serves or have any questions about the Charity Orientation Team, I would love to chat! I am always looking for new ways to improve or add to the program! You can send me an email at charityorientation@westernusc.ca

If you're a first year student, I'll see you in September!

Sincerely,

Jenna Froebelius
