Other Post-Degree Options

If you are considering continuing your education beyond your undergraduate degree, there are many options beyond graduate school.

Post-Degree Programs

Western offers many post-degree programs through Continuing Studies– both diplomas and certificates. A diploma is designed to complement your undergraduate degree. For example, Western offers diplomas in Human Resources, Not-for-Profit Management and Public Relations, to name a few.  Hands-on work placements in most of these programs add valuable experience to your degree.  Certificates are designed for practitioners with a minimum of two years of experience in a related field.  Each of Western’s programs offer you the chance to specialize in an area of career interest with the goal of becoming trained to either enter a desired career or improve your skill-set in your current career.  Of course, Western is not the only university that offers post-degree programs so be sure to research all of your options before beginning the application process.

College Programs

Colleges also offer many great programs that serve as a wonderful complement to a university undergraduate degree.  Locally in London, Fanshawe College provides training in a vast number of career areas.  College diplomas can serve as a fantastic supplement to your undergraduate degree and can help to improve your chances of getting hired in your career of choice.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities can help you to find a school in Ontario that offers training in the career path that you have selected.  Another very helpful resources is CareerCruising.  Both of these sites can help you to clarify your career direction beyond your undergraduate degree and connect you to programs that can offer appropriate training.  Keep in mind that the application process for post-degree programs is different for each program so it is important to do thorough research on your program of choice and follow the application process through in a timely manner.
